Lena Weiner
Development and Grants Manager
Lena J. Weiner is a graduate of Ohio State University, where she pursued a degree in international studies with a focus on economic and political development. Prior to joining Boston CASA, Lena worked as a journalist, writer, and editor for over a decade, primarily serving business audiences. Seeking to add a more profound sense of purpose to her life, Lena sought out volunteer opportunities, leading her to discover Boston CASA in early 2016. Upon undergoing CASA training, Lena realized that her background as a reporter and professional writer had naturally equipped her for many of the responsibilities CASAs undertake and that she has a genuine passion for child advocacy. To further enhance her abilities, Lena obtained a certificate in grant writing and non-profit management from Salem State University in 2019 and began channeling her skills toward non-profit organizations.
While Lena briefly returned to the for-publishing realm, she is now thrilled to join the Boston CASA team as a grants and development manager. In addition to her dedication to child advocacy and volunteering, Lena nurtures a love for creative writing, the culinary arts, travel, and yoga. She resides just outside Boston with her family, an Australian cattle dog mix, and a spirited feral cat. Lena is thrilled for this opportunity to contribute to Boston CASA’s mission.
