Karen is the Senior Director of Quality Improvement Initiatives at the Rhode Island Quality Institute. She has worked for over 20 years as a healthcare administrator focused on working with physicians on process and quality improvement initiatives. She is currently directing the launch of an initiative to implement Opioid Abuse Treatment Standards in RI Emergency Departments. She had always wanted to work with children in foster care and when her daughters went to college, she became involved with CASA. Her ‘CASA kid’ is a funny energetic 9 year old boy in a group home and she feels lucky to be part of an amazing team of three other CASAs helping one family
