Senior Director of Development (Full-time, In-Person)

Position Overview

The Senior Director of Development serves as a key senior leadership team member and an active strategic decision-maker at Boston CASA. This role is responsible for strengthening and scaling a diversified, sustainable fundraising program that supports Boston CASA’s five-year Plan for Growth. Working in close partnership with the Executive Director, the Senior Director of Development will lead the development and execution of a comprehensive fundraising strategy with a strong emphasis on growing individual major gifts and corporate partnerships, while sustaining and deepening Boston CASA’s foundation and public funding base. The Senior Director of Development will help guide the organization’s growth from a $1.3M budget in FY23 to $2.7M by FY28 by building a strong donor pipeline, increasing donor retention, and reducing overreliance on any single funding source.

The Senior Director of Development will oversee all fundraising programs and development-related communications, foster a culture of shared fundraising ownership across staff and board, and ensure that systems, data, and metrics are used to drive decision-making and long-term sustainability. The Senior Director of Development reports directly to the Executive Director.

Core Responsibilities

Fundraising Strategy & Revenue Diversification

●Partner with the Executive Director and strategic growth consultant to design, implement, and continuously refine a multi-year fundraising strategy aligned with Boston CASA’s growth goals and informed by BPS best practices

● Work cross team with other members of the development team to strengthen revenue diversification across major gifts, individual giving, corporate partnerships, foundations, and government funding

● Establish clear annual and multi-year fundraising goals, benchmarks, and projections to support organizational sustainability

Major Gifts & Individual Donor Pipeline

● Build and manage a high-performing major gifts program, including prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship

● Develop and oversee a strategic donor pipeline that moves supporters from entry-level giving to increased engagement and larger commitments over time

● Personally manage and solicit a portfolio of major gift donors and prospects, and manage portfolios for the Executive Director and Board leadership

Corporate, Foundation & Institutional Partnerships

● Lead strategy for corporate partnerships and sponsorships, ensuring alignment with mission, impact, and long-term value

● Oversee foundation and government fundraising efforts in collaboration with senior leadership, ensuring proposals, reporting, and compliance meet funder expectations

● Steward institutional funders through strong communication, reporting, and relationship management

Board & Organizational Engagement

● Serve as a strategic partner to the Board of Directors and Development Committee, supporting fundraising goal-setting, donor outreach, and accountability

● Equip board members with tools, training, and support to actively participate in fundraising and donor stewardship

● Promote a culture of philanthropy in which fundraising is understood as a shared responsibility across leadership, staff, and board

Development Operations, Systems & Metrics

● Oversee development operations for individual giving, including donor database/CRM management, gift processing, acknowledgments, and reporting

● Use data and dashboards to track performance, donor retention, pipeline movement, and progress toward goals

● Ensure development systems and processes are scalable, efficient, and aligned with best practices

Communications & Donor Stewardship

● Collaborate with program and communications staff to ensure compelling, consistent, and impact-driven messaging for donors and funders

● Oversee donor communications, stewardship plans, and recognition strategies that deepen engagement and loyalty

● Ensure that donor communications clearly connect philanthropy to outcomes, growth, and impact

Senior Leadership & Organizational Strategy

● Serve as an active member of the Senior Leadership Team, contributing to organizational planning, budgeting, and strategic decision-making

● Support long-term financial sustainability by aligning fundraising strategy with staffing, program growth, and infrastructure investments

● Model Boston CASA’s guiding principles and commitment to equity, transparency, and collaboration

Qualifications & Experience

Required Qualifications

● 7-10+ years of progressive nonprofit fundraising experience, with a strong emphasis on major gifts

● Demonstrated success building and managing donor pipelines and securing six figure gifts from individuals and/or institutions

● Experience leading fundraising strategy during periods of organizational growth or transformation

● Strong analytical skills and comfort using data to inform fundraising decisions

● Experience partnering closely with executive leadership and boards

Preferred Qualifications

● Experience in child welfare, youth services, legal advocacy, or human services

● Experience implementing recommendations from fundraising audits or consultants

● Familiarity with CRM systems and fundraising dashboards

● Strong commitment to equity, inclusion, and mission-centered leadership

● Past experience with wealth screening tools like Wealth Engine or Donor Search preferred

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: 120K-134K, full-time, in-Person

Advocate Supervisor (Full-time)

General Description 

The Advocate Supervisor reports to the Program Director and supports, guides, and supervises the work of CASA volunteer GALs, advocating for the best interest of abused and neglected children living in foster care. In doing so, the Advocate Supervisor ensures volunteer compliance with Organization policies. The Advocate Supervisor will support the Program Director, as needed, in the day-to-day administration of the Program. He/she will support the volunteer’s daily work, including collaboration with the Department of Children and Families, the Juvenile Court and Children and Family Law (CAFL) attorneys.  

Responsibilities

Supervision, support and management of volunteer advocates and their assigned cases:  

  • Maintain organized, accurate and up-to-date physical and electronic case records in compliance with Agency protocols, ensuring data integrity for reporting needs  
  • Supervise 25-30 volunteer advocates; caseload size is at the discretion of the Program Director 
  • Support volunteer advocates in the completion of court-mandated duties, including, but not limited to, developing and submitting monthly contact logs, court reports and case plans and participating in court hearings and case meetings  
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment to assist advocates in creative problem solving, utilizing Agency and community resources and ensuring accuracy and consistency with dependency permanency planning law and best practices  
  • Facilitate and mediate relationships between advocates and professionals, family members, and others as needed  
  • Maintain monthly minimum contact with advocates, providing coaching, and advice tailored to individual case and volunteer needs  
  • Identify and share information about specialized services and resources with advocates and Boston CASA staff 
  • Annually evaluate advocate performance in the fulfillment of their duties  
  • Apply critical thinking to analyze, formulate, and assists volunteers in recommendations to advocate for best interest for children and youth using strengths-based lens 

Additional Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance to the Director of Community Engagement and Volunteer Services, with the recruitment, screening and training of new advocates and the continuing education and retention of established advocates. 
  • Assist in referrals provided by Suffolk and Middlesex County Courts with thoughtful and intentional matching of CASA volunteers.  
  • Establish and maintain effective, collegial working relationships with Boston CASA staff, board and volunteers, as well as with representatives of the Department of Children and Families, the CAFL attorney panel, education service providers and other community service providers and entities  
  • Other duties as assigned; non-essential job duties, non-related responsibilities and other tasks as required by the Executive Director and Organization may be assigned from time to time – Boston CASA is a small non-profit organization requiring flexibility from its staff, including occasional evening and weekend hours. 

Qualifications and Requirements  

  • Bachelor’s degree in social-service related field and/or five-eight years of experience supervising staff (paid or volunteer) 
  • Experience in the fields of social service, juvenile law, education and volunteer program management preferred 
  • Knowledge of the needs and strengths of community volunteers of all ages and backgrounds 
  • Strong working knowledge of community resources in either/or Suffolk & Middlesex County 
  • Experience working with communities of color 
  • Must complete CASA Volunteer Advocate Training  
  • Must pass a comprehensive background check  
  • Comfortable with learning and utilizing new software programs  
  • Strong written communication skills, including editing skills; candidates should be prepared to provide a writing sample upon request  
  • Excellent oral communication skills, including the ability to calmly evaluate and make mindful, strategic decisions in emotionally charged situations and in the absence of complete clarity  
  • Excellent management skills and comfort with conflict-resolution  
  • Competence in Microsoft Word, Virtual platforms, Survey Monkey, and Outlook programs  
  • Flexibility with hours, including some evenings and weekends, with an ability to independently manage one’s workload and schedule  
  • Demonstrated respect of all people regardless of socioeconomic background, culture, religion, sexual orientation, disability or gender and experience working with culturally diverse populations  
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise diplomacy and discretion in communication with others 
  • Spanish Speaking Preferred

Data and Evaluation Intern (Unpaid)

Position Overview

The Data & Evaluation Intern reports to the Director of Operations and will work to provide a variety of organizational functions and data collection/analysis tasks to support program and agency operations. The primary functions of this role include helping to maintaining the program database and records, reviewing and analyzing data in real-time, creating reports for internal and external stakeholders, and creating processes and workflows to improve data management practices.

Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent data support on an individual, team and programmatic basis.
  • Perform real-time quality control review of electronic data and entry. Ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
  • Assist team with data entry when required
  • Create and run data queries and reports to support organizational goals
  • Analyze data sets to drive insights and support strategic goals
  • Identify areas for improvement and design data system solutions and establishing data protocols to create actionable data
  • Create workflows and systems for managing and analyzing data efficiently.
  • Support data training and data-related meetings through the creation and maintenance of presentations, reports, and supplemental documents.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • 2-3 years experience with database administration and data analytics
