Janet Burt
Advocate Supervisor
Janet joins CASA Boston from a background practicing law. She spent her legal career fighting for clients whose access to justice was limited by socioeconomic and racial discrimination. She received a bachelor’s degree in political science from University of Maryland Baltimore County and a Juris Doctorate degree from The University of Maryland School of Law. After law school she moved to Dallas, Texas where she worked as an assistant public defender. She has also represented underserved clients suffering from domestic violence and those facing eviction. Most of her clients were children involved with juvenile delinquency, care and protection and special education cases. She became familiar with CASA while working with volunteer advocates who were supporting her clients. As she changes careers, she is excited to work for CASA Boston to improve the lives of vulnerable children.
